The synthesis and characterization of facial and meridional isomers of unsym-cis-(ethylene diamine-N,N '-di-3-propionato)cobalt(III) complexes with natural aliphatic alpha-amino acids containing oxygen and sulfur

In the reaction of sodium unsym-cis-(ethylenediamine-N,N'-di-3-Dropionato)(carbonato)cobaltate(III) dihydrate and the corresponding amino acid (S-serine, S-threonine, S-cysteine and R,S-methionine) at 70 degrees C, both theoretically possible facial and meridional isomers of unsym-cis-(ethylenediamine-N,N'-di-3-propionato)(aminoacidato)cobalt(III) complex were prepared. The complexes were isolated chromatographically and characterized by elemental analyses, as well as electron absorption and infrared spectroscopy.
