abstract = "The results of crystallization analysis on casting alloys of CuZn21Al2 type are presented
in this study. The analysis of the process has been performed by acoustic emission method
whereas the crystallization process has refered to the castings obtained by continuous casting
treatment. Actually, the continuous casting simulation has been carried out using convenient selection of gravitational casting process parameters, so the samples with macrostructure characteristic for continuous castings have been got. The laboratory plant for continuous casting simulation and crystallization analysis by acoustic emission method has been also presented in this study. A corresponding algorithm of the control of continuous casting process is worked out, as well as a programme package itself, which enables following of crystallization process during production of continuous cast semifabricates. As a result of those investigation, two types of acoustic emission signals are defined, as follows: signal of acoustic emission during solidification with absolutely correct crystallization and macrostructure of continuous casting and signal of acoustic emission during solidification of castings, in which any type of failure occurs (crack, inclusion, etc.).
Finally, the results obtained by the analysis of the solidification process show that it is possible to use acoustic emission as a method of recording acoustic emission signal for monitoring the crystallization process at continuous and gravity casting.",
