The paper describes the formation and educational work of five foreign Chemical Societies as well as the work of the Serbian Chemical Society. The aim is to indicate, through an analysis of their work, to the potentials in knowledge and experience the societies possess, and on the basis of which they can be partners to the state when creating educational policy in the field of teaching and learning chemistry. The members of the societies are chemists employed in different professional fields, which enables getting a fuller view of the competencies required by labor market and, subsequently, further development of chemistry curricula. The ways in which different societies care for the quality of education, which actions they undertake, from promotion of science among the young, in-service teacher training, activities to enhance chemistry learning, efforts to provide better equipment for schools, development of new curricula to monitoring students' achievements are also presented. The so...cieties, additionally, take special care to inform the members about new developments in science and education through their bulletins and journals.
Takođe, društva posebno brinu o informisanju članova o novim dostignućima u nauci i obrazovanju kroz časopise društva.
